JOYCE BUNDY

27 November 1935 – 9 February 2026 RIP

Joyce was a passionate supporter of athletics and stalwart of Lincolnshire Athletics – holding lots of offices since 1975, including being a Life Vice President.

Joyce (Gadd) was a pupil at Kesteven & Grantham High School. She was a keen sports person in her own right, and as a young women, was a member of Ist Hockey XI, a member of Ist Cricket XI and a member of Lincolnshire Ladies Cricket XI.

She taught at St Wulfram's School from 1956 to 1987 and was Head of Girls Physical Education. During her teaching career Joyce took up coaching and gained her Athletics Coaching Certificate

She was Secretary of Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association for 17 years.

Joyce a member of Lincolnshire Athletic Association to this day, became their Ist President in 1974 and held the office until 1996.

She took up officiating and soon climbed the ladder to become a BAAB Field Referee and subsequently a British Athletic Federation Field Referee.

Joyce has officiated at most of the major athletic events in this country including World Cup. World Student Games, the European Junior Championships and the European Cup Final.

She was a member of Women's Amateur Athletic Association Committee up to 1991 and a member of Northern Counties Women's AA Committee up to 1992.

Joyce had a life long passion for schools athletics and she was a member of the English Schools Athletic Association Executive Committee for many years. In 1995 she was appointed their Chairman and in 1997 was appointed a Life Vice President.

Joyce is also a Life Vice President Grantham Athletic Club, a Life Member of Lincolnshire Athletic Association and a Life Member Lincolnshire Schools Sports Federation.

In 1992 Joyce was elected onto the North of England Athletic Association General Committee. In 1995 in recognition for holding high office in the region, they honoured her by presenting her with the Presidents Award.
